In the sixth form the faculty provides AS and A2 courses in Economics, Business Studies, Sociology, Psychology and Government and Politics. The department encourages the students to take part in competitions such as Target 2.0 run by the Bank of England, and to go on the trips that have been arranged by subject staff, such as to Alton Towers, The Houses of Parliament, Denby Pottery, Coors Brewery and the Bank of England. Many Sixth Form students also take part in the Young Enterprise scheme and all students in Years 10 are involved in a number of Enterprise days. Enterprise days are designed to encourage the students to develop their potential as entrepreneurs. The faculty has expanded its role in the school in the last ten years as it seeks to broaden the appeal of social science and business to all pupils at the school.
The faculty have developed links with higher education institutions and local employers such as Sheffield Hallam University, Coors Brewery who support the department in many ways such as with the Social Science Award.
