Career Mark Award
In April John Port was awarded the Career Mark 5 Quality Award for Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).
Several areas of good practice within the school were highlighted, but we were extremely proud that the assessor made particular mention of outstanding good practice in offering impartial advice to students, which he felt should have national recognition.
The most impressive feature of JPS is the impartiality of the information and advice provided to students. The students are encouraged to consider the full range of options, and the school advertises and promotes open events at local 6th forms and FE colleges to ensure decisions made by students are informed.
Staff also received praise from the students. Groups of students from each year group were interviewed by the assessor, who commented “all groups said the staff at JPS put themselves out to help them”.
