John Port School is more than just a school, we are a thriving, successful, vibrant and energetic community demonstrating a common purpose and ambition - to ensure the very best learning experience for each and every one of our students and staff. We are a school with a distinct ethos. We recognise that every student has their own individual strengths, gifts and talents; our aim is to ensure that these are all nurtured and developed to their full potential. We look for excellence in all aspects of learning and strive to share our expertise with other school communities, and in turn, learn from our counterparts through collaboration.
I believe John Port is a school where staff are proud to work, a place which Governors, parents and guardians are all proud to support.
John Port is a school which students are proud to belong to. Students achieve well here and our results in the summer are expected to be stronger still.
Our Sixth Form is ‘outstanding’, as recognised in the last Ofsted inspection. Student achievement has improved year-on-year and students consistently attain high standards, reflecting the outstanding teaching they have received over time and continue to receive.
We lead and innovate to make learning fun, challenging and distinctive for our students. The relationships between teachers, students, parents and guardians are fundamental to the success of the school. Working together we ensure that students enjoy their time at John Port School, make good progress and leave us as responsible, well-qualified, mature young people; ready to make a valuable contribution to society.
We are committed to enabling all our young people to develop into happy, tolerant and confident adults; treating others like they would wish to be treated themselves. Our school community is friendly, but disciplined with our students understanding the value of hard work as the backbone of achieving success.
Providing top quality teaching and learning, in order that all students can improve their academic and personal outcomes and achieve their full potential, remains at the heart of all that we do. In turn, our students are energised, happy and developing quickly as independent aspirational learners who themselves want to make a difference.
The curriculum we offer remains broad and balanced. Students have a fantastic range of options open to them at KS4 and KS5, matched closely to their needs and interests.
There are numerous opportunities for students to grow and develop outside of the classroom. We have a growing Duke of Edinburgh’s award programme, we run trips locally, nationally and internationally every year and offer a myriad of lunchtime and after school clubs, but most importantly we are taking students to new and life changing learning opportunities.
I trust that during your visit to our website you will find much to illustrate the depth of opportunity that exists at this school.
