John Port School is a successful, vibrant and energetic community whose common purpose is to ensure the very best learning experience for every one of our students and staff. We recognise that every student has their own individual strengths, gifts and talents and our aim is to ensure that these are all nurtured and developed to their full potential.
Your child is at the heart of everything we do and I believe that students, staff, parents and governors are proud of the John Port School community.
Our Sixth Form is also successful, vibrant and energetic. Student achievement has improved year-on-year and students consistently attain high standards, reflecting the outstanding teaching they have received over time and continue to receive.
We lead and innovate to make learning fun, challenging and distinctive for our students. The relationships between teachers, students, parents and guardians are fundamental to the success of the school. Working together we ensure that students enjoy their time at John Port School, make good progress and leave us as responsible, well-qualified, mature young people; ready to make a valuable contribution to society.
We are committed to enabling all our young people to develop into happy, tolerant and confident adults; treating others as they would wish to be treated themselves. Our school community is friendly but disciplined, with our students understanding the value of hard work as the backbone of achieving success.
Providing top quality teaching and learning, in order that all students can improve their academic and personal outcomes and achieve their full potential, remains at the heart of all that we do. In turn, our students are energised, happy and developing quickly as independent aspirational learners who want to make a difference.
The curriculum we offer remains broad and balanced. Students have a fantastic range of options open to them at KS4 and KS5, matched closely to their needs and interests.
There are numerous opportunities for students to grow and develop outside of the classroom. We have a growing Duke of Edinburgh’s award programme, we run trips locally, nationally and internationally every year and offer a myriad of lunchtime and after school clubs, but most importantly we are taking students to new and life changing learning opportunities.
If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to welcoming you to John Port School.
