Year 6 Transition – information for parents

Mrs Smitton (Associate Assistant Principal) and Mrs Orr (Head of Year 7) are responsible for the Induction process for Year 6 students transferring to John Port Spencer Academy in September 2020.

They will soon be planning the Year 6 Induction Days and we encourage children who have been offered a place at John Port to attend. These will take place on Tuesday 30th June and Wednesday 1st July. An opportunity for parents to meet form tutors will take place on Wednesday 1st July between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. Details will be given to the children on one of the Induction Days but please keep the evening free in your diary. During the meet the tutor evening, there will be an opportunity to order school uniform, PE kit and other items of essential equipment.

Details about the arrangements for the Induction Days including transport, lunch and equipment needed will be released nearer the time.

Parents of children who have been offered a place at John Port will receive a letter and information booklet in early March with details about transition for September 2020.

An email will also be sent out in March asking parents to complete a data capture form and a GDPR photograph permission form. We would appreciate it if parents could complete these as soon as possible by following the links included in the email so that information about the children is up to date for our administration system.

A copy of the information booklet is available here. Children will also receive a booklet to complete to help us to get to know them. A copy of this booklet is also available here.

We strive to ensure that all students are happy at John Port Spencer Academy and a successful transition into Year 7 is a key part of this.

If you have any questions about your child’s transition into Year 7, please email or telephone the academy and we will be happy to help.
