Headteacher's Blog - 18th May 2018

The traditional warm weather for exam season is arriving next week. Students must still wear uniform with lanyards for identification purposes, although they will be encouraged to remove blazers during the exams. We will be providing bottled water for all students in all GCSE and GCE exams during the next few weeks to help cope with the heat.

The new governors are now in post and we had our first meeting this week. I am really looking forward to working with them over the next few years as we continue to improve the education for the young people at John Port Spencer Academy. They are:

Chair                                            Rob Tice

Vice Chair                                 Anne Finnocchio

Safeguarding Governor   Emma Twigg

Governors

Danny Parker

Jonathan Watson

Rachel Merrick

Amanda Harper

Congratulations to Lauren Whyte who attended the Oxbridge Conference and entered an online survey, which entered her into a draw for an ipad .  Lauren has since received an email to say she is the winner of an Ipad.

The appointments of new staff have continued this week with colleagues joining us in History and Music.

The staff were well and truly beaten by the 6th form students in the football this week. Well done to the 6th form - clearly the staff need more training time!

Congratulations to our football teams, their outstanding results are as follows:

Year 7: League Champions

Year 8: League Champions

Year 9: League runners up

Year 10: 2nd Division runners up, A50 Challenge Cup Winners,

Year 11: 2nd Division Champions.

6th Form : League Champions.
