Headteacher’s Blog 8th June 2018
Year 11 and Year 13 students were working hard revising during half term and they are coping remarkably well during this examination series.
A number of students from Years 8-10 had an amazing trip to China during the holiday lead by Mrs Jones and Mr Stephenson. The behaviour and attitude of the students was exemplary and was commented on by all the officials in China, and also members of the public including teachers from other schools. The trip offered the students the opportunity to witness firsthand the differences in culture. They returned exhausted but with memories that will last a lifetime.
There was a real team effort at John Port for the Well Dressing last term with staff, students and parents working together to complete it in time. I am sure you will agree they did a fantastic job and it is wonderful to see the tradition continue.
I would especially like to thank the students who helped out, they are Ava, Esther, Alice, Holly, Sophie, Lily, Abi, Abigail, Yasmin, Georgina, Phoebe, Katie and Joshua.
Parents and staff also helped out, particularly Ian Stubbs (Parent), Laura O’Brien (Parent), Marie Walker-Endsor, Kate Kniveton, Tracey Bradbury, Jo King, Lorna Russell, Kate Eedy, Andrea Smith and Yvette Davies. Many other members of staff also called in to help. Thank you to everyone for their amazing efforts.
The Year 13 students left us on Friday 25th May with a Prom at Derby County. The students had a fantastic evening and a memorable end to their time at John Port. The Year 11 prom will take place on June 28th at the end of the examination series.
