Headteacher’s Blog 6th July 2018
We have a film star in our Academy, as the BBC came in to film Mr Opara and talk about the move from football to education. Students were not be filmed or interviewed unless prior permission had been given.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we had our Year 6 students visiting for the induction days. They had a wonderful two days in a variety of lessons and had the opportunity to spend time with their tutors. At lunchtime we had a field full of energetic enthusiastic students playing football and rolling down the slopes. The hot weather did not seem to slow them down! We had some wonderful comments from students and parents during the parents evening on Wednesday night and we are now looking forward to them joining us in September.
Wednesday night was also the art exhibition, where work by the Year 11 GCSE and Year 12 and 13 A level students was displayed. I am always impressed with the incredible work produced in the art department as we have some very talented students.
The weather has been glorious again this week and it looks like it will continue into next week. There are no blazers required next week and we have a non uniform day (no cost) on Wednesday for the Enrichment day. The sports day final is on Friday and I would suggest that students bring hats, sunscreen and drinks if the weather continues to be so warm. There will be a limited amount of refreshments available so they may wish to bring some change.
Year 10 students have been suffering in the heat for their mock exams, but have been incredible. Despite the heat their behaviour and attitude has been exemplary.
Enjoy the football tomorrow!
