John Port School will open at 10am on Tuesday 12th December due to icy conditions.
School will open at 10am today to ensure the safety of the school site following the freezing temperatures overnight.
We apologise for the confusion yesterday, we cleared the site and tried as hard as we could to keep the school open, but the temperature dropped and the site re-froze. Unfortunately we had to make the decision to close because the school site was unsafe for students and staff.
Due to the forecast, we will open at 10am today, to allow extra time to make the site safe. Students are to report to registration at 10am, and then will go to Period 2 at 10.15am.
Bus services 232, 231 and 228 will run at the later time, subject to road conditions. Please could students be at the first stop at 9.30am. We have been informed by Bagnalls, Hawkes and Harpurs coaches that they are not running their services to John Port School this morning. Buses after school will run as normal. We understand that some students will be unable to make it to school today due to bus transport issues.
It is Winter-themed jumper day and Christmas Dinner today as planned.
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Year 7 Disco tonight due to the uncertain weather conditions. This will be rescheduled and tickets will be valid for the new date.
We will update our website with more information as it becomes available. We will also keep in touch with parents via ParentMail and twitter.
