Year 7 students celebrate their achievements in the Summer Reading Challenge
On the 12th of October, nineteen Year 7 students were invited to celebrate their achievements in the Summer Reading Challenge in a fun-filled party in the library.
The Summer Reading Challenge, run by the charity The Reading Agency, is the UK's largest reading event for children aged four to eleven in libraries across the country. The challenge takes place annually during the summer holidays; requiring those taking part to read six different books of their choice. The theme of this years challenge was 'The Big Friendly Read'; honouring the 100th birthday of the world's most beloved storyteller, Roald Dahl.
Year 7 students who completed the challenge in their local libraries were invited to celebrate this fantastic achievement in the library; which also coincided with the librarys twentieth birthday! To celebrate, we had lots of fun eating cakes and sweet treats, as well as discussing our favourite summer reads.
